READ MOREBased on the S.L.I.M.M.S.™-Metabolic Procedure above, and also invented by Dr. Quebbemann with the goal of improving the weight loss results after gastric bypass, the S.L.I.M.M.S.™ Revision of Gastric Bypass offers a new path forward for gastric bypass patients that have regained weight.
READ MOREDr. Quebbemann coined the term S.L.I.M.M.S.™ to indicate that his metabolic procedure is designed to achieve better weight loss and better improvement in metabolic syndrome, without significant increase in risk. The name S.L.I.M.M.S.™ comes from Surgically Limiting Intake and Manage Metabolic Syndrome. Metabolic Syndrome includes abdominal obesity, cholesterol problems and diabetes.
For much lighter people, weight loss is still difficult, and the only option has been dieting which most people find unsuccessful. Dr. Quebbemann has invented a minimally invasive surgery to give lighter people an alternative to tummy tucks and liposuction.
S.L.I.M.M.S. stands for Surgically Limit Intake Manage Metabolic Syndrome. Pioneered by Dr. Brian Quebbemann, this novel approach to weight loss surgery has one goal; to improve on the success of current bariatric operations without increasing the risk of malnutrition.
There are three (3) different S.L.I.M.M.S.™ Procedures, each defined for a specific purpose:
Currently the new S.L.I.M.M.S.™ Procedures are only available at The N.E.W. Program in Newport Beach, California.
No. There are literally thousands of people in North America who have undergone gastric sleeve and, after developing complications, were converted to a gastric bypass. These people now have both the sleeve and bypass; however, they did not have the two procedures performed at the same time.
Published studies say there is not. Several centers worldwide have removed the entire stomach during gastric bypass surgery to prevent stomach cancer. Even though these centers remove more stomach than happens with the S.L.I.M.M.S.™ Procedure, they have reported that surgical risks are no higher than performing a standard gastric bypass.
Yes. Scientific studies have shown repeatedly that metabolic complications occur at a higher frequency in people with as little as 20-to-25 pounds of extra weight.
No. Liposuction simply removes a small amount of fat for body contouring purposes. Without significant changes in diet and exercise, patients that have undergone liposuction will regain that body fat, often in a different, and potentially ugly way.
No. No weight loss procedure guarantees permanent weight loss. However, all S.L.I.M.M.S.™ Procedures are designed to make people feel full with small meals, helping them make simple changes to their diet resulting in permanent weight loss.
